GB Football - 1949 Photo

Thanks to Mr. Drake of Oxford for loaning this photograph of the winning Great Britain team at the 1949 International Games for the Deaf, Copenhagen, Denmark. Mr. Drake's father (back row, second from right) was one of three Manchester players; he was also a profilic cricketer that his son recalls him scoring a century at the Roses match (Lanchester v Yorkshire).

Mr. Drake was at Oxford City to watch the friendly game against Great Britain XI in preparation for the 2009 Taiwan Deaflympics (60 years after his dad!) and is to be thanked for contributing a most generous donation towards the proceeds.

Israel 0 - 5 Great Britain : Match report

After a professional build-up to the match day, the players, officials and supporters were looking forwards to taking on the Israelis in Ashkelon.
