It was announced at the
GBDWF's training weekend on 10th January 2009 that Dominic Everett will be stepping down from his role
as a Chairperson for the GBDWF in April 2009.
After two years's reign, it
was felt that a new Chairperson to be appointed to guide GBDWF into a new
direction with strength. As both the Coaching and Management Teams are now in
place through a strenuous recruitment drive, the new Chairperson will be able
to continue supporting and driving them into the new direction, focussing on the
Deaflympic Games 2009 and beyond.
Dominic Everett announced
that, "
Regrettably that I will not be here to watch how GBDWF is doing
in the Deaflympic Games 2009 but obviously as a keen squash supporter holding
the role of the World Deaf Squash Incorporated Technical Director, it would be
extremely difficult to hold both roles. I can see that GBDWF is in a stronger
position to continue with very committed volunteers and they have a very good
future ahead of them so therefore I feel it is best I focus on the preparation
for the World Deaf Squash Championships due to take place at New Zealand in
October 2010."
George McGowen, the GBDWF
Head Coach said of Dominic's stepping down, "
I would like to express my
regret over Dominic's decision to step down as Chair for GB Deaf Women
Football. I would like to convey my appreciation to Dominic for all the hard
work and his time and input toward the GB Deaf Women Football. Ever since I
have been involved with the Team from day one away back in 2006, when he was
appointed to be the Chair of the GB Deaf Women Football, holding down many
other jobs at the same time - he put us in the right track and also has made
GBDWF stronger.
I would like to thank
Dominic for not only for his role as a Chairman, but also the development of
new staff for the GB Deaf Women Football, such as Karly our physio, Dina our
masseur, Clare Harvey our Admin & PR, installing Sharon Hirshman as our
Operation Manager for the Deaflympics, and also the new Chair for GB Deaf
Women."
Martin Willis, from Woking
Surrey, has been approached and shall be installed as a new Chairperson from
April 2009. The handover process is currently ongoing and will be in place
ready for April. It is planned for Martin Willis to be introduced to the squad
members at the next GBDWF Training weekend on 14th/15th March 2009 at Cardiff. Dominic will,
however, continue to stay involved should GBDWF require his support,
particularly with the Deaf Football Development.
