Women given fabulous last training weekend by middleton LFC
GB women travelled to Manchester this weekend for the last training weekend before the Deaflympics. As well as being excited to get their official clothing and team kits, the girls were focused on this being the last chance to practise before the acclimatisation week in Taipei.

The hosts, Middleton LFC, could not have been more supportive and encouraging. As well as providing the team with an excellent facility to train on during the saturday, the hosts had also gone the extra mile to give GBDWF the send off (not the red card type!) they deserve. Hayley Regan, the team manager for Middleton, had contacted local media and clubs to invite them - ensuring a good crowd to watch the game on the Sunday.

"I was amazed when i found out that you have no government funding" said Hayley, "and the team wanted to help you fulfill your dreams." During half time, a collection was organised and GBDWF were presented with a cheque for £107 at full time. Middelton had also organised for a large commemorative banner to be made that all of the GB team signed - this will be auctioned and then the proceeds sent to GBDWF. Local media interviews were also carried out for both sides.

A tough game, and a brilliant and caring send off marks the end of the last 3 years preparation for GB Women before travelling to Taiwan on August 25th - keep logging on here for more updates when the team arrive!
