Great Britain Women |
Bleary eyed, but full of excitement, there was a huddle of red white and blue at Heathrow this morning.
The GB Deaflympic team have spent the last 3 years tirelessly raising money and training to reach this day - the day their journey to the Deaflympics begins.
GB Deaf Women were amongst the most eager and were soon checked in. Looking smart and proud, the team had time to say goodbye and thank you to the supporters, family and friends that that have helped them reach this point in their journey of a lifetime.
"It is quite simple," said Cath Eyley, one of the GB Women. "Without the support of my family, friends and local community, both in terms of fundraising and encouragement, i would not be here today. I am so excited about going to Taipei and representing GB in the women's football event. Knowing that everyone back at home is behind me and encouraging me just makes it all that much more special and makes me even more determined to make them proud. "
