| GB Women Test Endurance in Friendly Challenge |

We had our first friendly game against Taipei University football team. We had no idea of who the other team was, or what their strengths and weakness were. The weather was hot (38degrees) & humid with a swirling wind blowing round the pitch. As soon as the game started we passed round and soon found out the other team was a talented and experienced one!
The first half was a struggle due to the hot sun and bone dry & dusty pitch. The first half score was 3 – 0 down. The coaching team took the opportunity to see how all the players managed in this kind of weather and in the second half changed several players to give everyone a chance to play in this weather. It was an experience for the players and opportunity for them all to play.
The second half found the team settling down to the conditions and the GB play was better. The GB team managed to keep the half score to 1 –1 which resulted in a 4 – 1 defeat at the end.
Of course, a win would have been a great result, but the team are not downheartened. From a coaching perspective it was a successful experimental game for GB, gave the players a real experience of playing a match in the heat and how the ball performs on such hard ground.
