GBDWF are pleased to announce
that Julie Callaghan has agreed to become our Head Coach for an interim period
of 18 months in preparation for GBDWF's participation in the 2011 European Deaf
Women Football Championships in Bulgaria. It is a privilege to have her on board
as our Head Coach because she belongs to an elite band as one of the very few
women nationally to hold the UEFA's Coaching 'A' Badge.
She is familiar with
International Deaf Women football due to her past involvement with England Deaf
Football team in coaching for 2007 World Deaf Futsal in Bulgaria and 2008 World
Deaf Football Cup in Greece. Julie works full-time as Skills Team Leader in the
Women's Football Development Division for Leicestershire & Rutland County
Football Association.
Her appointment is viewed as a
fantastic opportunity for our Football team to progress and develop further as
well as continuing to make a positive impact in the development of youngsters
in the future. One of her favourite activities is watching her beloved Sheffield
Wednesday FC. Julie is also the Head Coach of England Deaf Futsal team who will
participate in the 2010 European Deaf Futsal Championships in Switzerland this
November.
On behalf of GBDWF, we would like
to welcome and support her in her new role. As we are currently working
together to plan our GB football events in preparation for 2011 European Deaf
Women Football Championship, details will be announced soonest when it has been
finalised.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank George McGowan, Memnos Costi, Karly Dunmall and Dina Nolan for their committment and support.
