The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is the national charity dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people.
NDCS's 'Deaf Friendly Football Club' project needs a dynamic individual to manage this unique and high profile scheme and move it forwards over the next two years.
The Deaf Friendly FC project is more than just football - it is about using football as a mechanism to train and mpower young deaf people by creating greater awareness of deafness in society and increasing access to football for deaf players, volunteers, officials and coaches. This role is exciting, challenging and varied.
You will maintain the profile and momentum of this established project whilst developing the new priorities of increasing participation by deaf girls and women and creating a team of young deaf football volunteers.
You will oversee the recruitment of clubs, players and volunteers to this project, coordinate coach education courses, develop resources to support the delivery of the project and organise Deaf Friendly FC festivals across England.
You will have previous experience of project management, a clear understanding of the principles of football or sports development and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Sign language skills would be of an advantage, although not essential.
This post involves extensive travel throughout England and the successful candidate will be expected to work on a number of evenings and weekends throughout the year, including residentials for young people.
